Firefighters extinguish vehicle fire on Highway 2 North

Buckland Fire and Rescue responded to two fires on Highway 2 within a few minutes of each other.

On Tuesday afternoon around 1:54, the department was called to a vehicle fire north of Prince Albert on Highway 2.

Firefighters found the vehicle completely engulfed in flames and quickly worked to extinguish the fire and remove the vehicle off the highway.

There’s no word yet on any injuries.

Meanwhile, firefighters were also called to a small vegetation fire around 1:57 p.m. on Highway 2 North near the fire base for the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency (SPSA).

As crews were already working on the vehicle fire, the SPSA Emergency Response Team attended the other blaze and quickly extinguished it.

The cause of both fires is still under investigation.
