Producers making hay in this week’s crop report

Livestock producers have certainly been making hay so far this season.

According to Saskatchewan Agriculture’s latest crop report, 50 per cent of the hay crop has been baled already or put in to silage so far this season, with another 20 per cent cut and ready for bailing.

The five-year average for this time of year is 55 per cent baled.

The wet and humid weather has done a number on the hay quality so far with 70 per cent of the crop rated as good.
