Funeral held for Roughrider gunned down in New Orleans

A funeral will be held Monday morning for Saskatchewan Roughriders’ running back Joe McKnight.
 
McKnight, 28, was fatally shot during a road rage incident in New Orleans. Ronald Gasser, 54, has been charged with manslaughter in his death.

Visitation will be held at New Home Ministries in New Orleans at 9 a.m. Monday. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m.

McKnight was signed to Saskatchewan’s practice roster on Sept. 26. He ran for 150 yards in his first CFL Oct. 15  against Toronto. He finished the 2016 season with 228 rushing yards and 80 receiving yards over five games with Edmonton and Saskatchewan.

Before moving to the CFL, he played three seasons for the New York Jets and one with the Kansas City Chiefs.
