Last year Meadow Lake saw fewer building permits issued to residents, but value of the overall projects went up compared to previous years.

Forty-one permits were issued in 2016, 15 fewer than in 2015. The permits sold amounted to just over $8.1 million, roughly $2 million more than in the previous year. Fire chief and building official Neil Marsh said the change in numbers is mainly due to construction of the Boston Pizza restaurant.

Thirty-three of last year’s total permits were for residential builds ranging from garages, home extensions, renovations or new builds.

With commercial properties, three new permits were issued for construction with two sold for renovations.
