Lee scores twice, Ho-Sang gets first NHL goal as Islanders topple Oilers 4-1
EDMONTON — The New York Islanders’ absence from the playoff picture only lasted a couple of hours.
Anders Lee scored a pair of goals as the Islanders gained some valuable points with a 4-1 victory over the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday. The win moved them back one point ahead of the Toronto Maple Leafs, who beat Detroit 3-2 earlier on the night, for the final wild-card playoff position in the Eastern Conference.
“We were really good tonight,” Lee said. “They’re still going to get a lot of opportunities, but I think we limited them as much as possible and played a tight-knit game and you have to do that as much as possible in a building like this with their team. I think all four of our lines were going pretty well tonight.”
Joshua Ho-Sang, with his first career NHL goal, and Andrew Ladd also scored for the Islanders (31-23-11), who snapped a two-game losing skid.
