Rider season ticket holders could receive discount or change seats if view obstructed

While it’s quite the spectacle to look at from the outside, some fans might have some trouble looking onto the field inside.

A small amount of seats inside new Mosaic Stadium will have to deal with stairway railings partially obstructing their view.

Gregg Sauter, vice-president of marketing with the Riders, said it would be a tiny amount, under .5 per cent or under 165 seats, who could have their view affected.

“We’re talking small, small numbers of seats that are affected here and it’s something that we expected and is part of every stadium contract,” Sauter said.

He said it’s dependent on a lot of things, such as how tall or short a person is.

People who could be affected have already been contacted. The Riders are offering discounts for seat holders in the areas and have given them the option to move to different seats, depending on the situation.

Sauter said this isn’t an uncommon problem.

“Almost every stadium there is some type of an obstruction due to a railing or a pillar.”

According to Sauter, the obstruction would be minor, such as not being able to see the back end of the endzone while sitting down.

There’s no plans in place to provide any renovations to improve the problem locations, and Sauter said the discounts could be offered in future years as well.
