Hammer attack sends one to hospital, man arrested

On May 19, Meadow Lake RCMP responded to a complaint of assault by a hammer.

A 53-year-old male was transported by EMS to RUH in Saskatoon for treatment of his injuries and is in stable condition. Forty-three-year old Jason Miller was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, and appeared in Meadow Lake provincial court this morning.

Sgt. Ryan How of the Meadow Lake RCMP said that not many more details could be released about the incident, other than the fact that “the accused and victim know each other and there was at least some form of altercation before.”

Update: Meadow Lake RCMP identify erratic ATV driver

The person who police said drove a red ATV erratically in Meadow Lake on Sunday has been identified.

On May 21, Meadow Lake RCMP received multiple calls of a male driver travelling at high speeds on city roads afternoon at roughly 2 p.m. According to police, the driver was a danger to others on the road.

In a report from the detachment How said Meadow Lake RCMP have identified some people related to the case.

“We ask the public to continue to provide information as it has helped and is appreciated by the members,” he said, adding that further information will be available when charges are laid.

Though there were no injuries reported, the RCMP would like to remind people ATVs are not allowed on city streets.

Update: Three of five now arrested for Meadow Lake home invasion

Another person accused in a home invasion that occurred in Meadow Lake on April 22 has been arrested. Brenden Yew was apprehended outside of the city, and transported back to appear in Meadow Lake Provincial Court this morning.

On the aforementioned date, police responded to a home invasion on Evans Place, which involved the use of firearms. A 40-year-old male suffered minor injuries as a result of the incident. Five men have been charged with break and enter, as well as robbery with a firearm.

Gerald Black and Damien Morin were arrested in relation to the incident on April 26, and appeared in court the next day.

How said officers “are still actively looking for Draysen Bigham and Daniel Vandale in relation to this event.”
