To say the organizers of the 4th Annual Battlefords and Area Chamber of Commerce Golf Event were a happy group on Friday would be an understatement.

Thanks to a record turnout of over 120 golfers and every hole sponsored by area businesses, Chamber President Warren Williams said this year’s event was the best to date.

“It was a great turnout. We had more people turn out than last year,” Williams smiled. “We had great weather; the golf course was in great shape. Every year it gets better and better.”

This year’s event was held at the North Battleford Golf and Country Club and included prizes for closest to the hole, longest drive and the par 3 hole-in-one contest.

Williams credits the success of the Golf Event to the businesses of the area who get involved through sponsorships and participation.

“Every year the businesses in our community keep getting better and better with having their presence out on the golf course,” Williams explained. “They want to contribute to our community and want to show that they are great people to do business with.”

Williams also pointed to the ability to network with other companies from the area as a huge drawing card to the event.

“The Chamber is more about advocacy,” Williams said. “Networking is one of our primary pillars. When you get people together, get people doing business together, it’s exciting and beneficial for everyone. Plus, if you are a new business what better way to meet people in the business community than at an event like this.”

Each year the event rotates venues and will be held at the Jackfish Lodge and Conference Centre in Cochin next year.
