Break-in suspect faces attempted murder charges in Denare Beach

Police have laid multiple charges on a suspect allegedly involved in multiple assaults and break-ins in Denare Beach.

Investigators received several complaints about a man breaking into a residence on Denare Beach and allegedly assaulting the home owner. He then allegedly broke into a neighbour’s residence and stole some property.

In a media release police say the male suspect then left the second residence and approached a man in an ATV and tried to steal the vehicle. The driver, however, pulled the keys from the vehicle and entered another residence where he locked the door.

Police say the suspect then entered the third home and assaulted the ATV driver. When another man drove by and stopped to assist, the suspect then allegedly tried to steal the witness’ vehicle.

All the incidents occurred within a 10-minute period, police say.

Creighton and Flin Flon RCMP attended the scene where community members were attempting to hold the suspect down. The man was taken into custody. He and the three homeowners went to hospital for undisclosed injuries.

Josh Paul, 27, of Flin Flon, Manitoba faces several charges including attempted murder, possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, robbery, break and enter, assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, resisting arrest, uttering threats, assaulting a peace officer, assaulting a peace officer causing bodily harm, mischief and theft under $5,000.

None of the allegations have been tested in court.
