UPDATE: La Ronge incident a false alarm

UPDATE: RCMP have confirmed the incident was caused by someone mistaking a firework explosion for a rifle shot. The nearby school was placed into a hold-and-secure which lasted less than 30 minutes as officers tracked down the source of the sound. RCMP Sgt. Earl LeBlanc said there was no criminal element to the incident, and everything is back to normal.

paNOW is trying to determine the details behind a Facebook post on the Northern Lights School Division’s page.

At roughly 2 p.m. today, the division posted there was an incident in La Ronge’s Tri-Community where RCMP were called. The division assures everything is now under control.
