Jaws of life needed to extricate crash victims on Hwy 2

The jaws of life were needed to remove two people from a vehicle involved in a two vehicle crash on Hwy 2 north Wednesday afternoon.

At about 12:45 p.m., members of the Lakeland Fire Department responded to the scene about 57 kilometres north of Christopher Lake. Five people were treated on scene, including two patients removed after crews cut open the roof of the vehicle they were trapped in. According to a social media post by Lakeland Fire, STARS air ambulance transported two people to hospital while Parkland Ambulance paramedics transported six patients to hospital.

Their conditions are unknown and the cause of the crash is under investigation.
