Police nab suspect after foot pursuit

Police in Meadow Lake have kept busy over the last week with 157 files.

Officers investigated a suspicious person after receiving a complaint from a local business owner on Centre Street on July 26 after 4 p.m.

According to a media release, police located the man and detained him for questioning before he took off on foot. With help from a police service dog, Mounties found the suspect hiding under a trailer.

William Lachance, 36, was held in custody and is charged with failing to comply with a probation order and resisting a police officer. Meadow Lake RCMP Sgt. Ryan How said Lachance will be held in custody until his next court date.

Officers with the detachment advise locals to enjoy themselves responsibly during the summer months and be particularly careful when it comes to alcohol consumption. How said officers will be patrolling roads often.
