A 19-year-old Meadow Lake man will appear in court today after being arrested last night by RCMP after reports a man was carrying a handgun as he walked down 3rd Ave.

Around 8:00 p.m. RCMP with the assistance of an off-duty officer and the Police Dog Services (PDS) located the man and made an arrest. A realistic BB pistol was located a short distance away with the help of PDS.

Keegan Partridge, 19 was arrested and charged with possession of a concealed weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. No one was injured in the incident but Sgt. Ryan Howe said that even though it was a BB pistol the threat and intimidation is very real.

“There also needs to be consideration for the officers who responded,” said How. “They have to presume the pistol is real and act accordingly.”
