Prince Albert police pulled over two separate drivers over the weekend, leading to arrests and multiple charges.

Police attempted to pull-over a vehicle with expired plates on Saturday, but the driver refused to stop. Police followed the vehicle north on Second Ave. W. It picked up speed driving down the hill, losing control and crashing into a street sign at the intersection of 15th St. W.

The driver was arrested and brought back to the cells where he subsequently failed a breathalyzer test. The 41-year-old man from Ahtahkakoop First Nation is charged with multiple offenses including operating a motor vehicle while impaired, and failing to stop a vehicle in order to evade a peace officer.

The suspect will make their first appearance in Prince Albert Provincial Court today.

On Sunday, officers observed a vehicle driving erratically. The vehicle was pulled-over and, upon approaching it, officers noticed a male passenger had a knife resting on his lap. The female driver and male passenger exited the vehicle and the man was arrested without incident. The man was searched and shotgun shells were found on his person. The vehicle was then searched and shotgun shells, a loaded sawed off 12 gauge shotgun and a small baggie of methamphetamine were also found.

The 24-year-old male from Prince Albert is charged with eight weapons related charges and one charge of possession of methamphetamine. The suspect will answer to charges in Prince Albert Provincial Court today.
