A man has been charged with arson and aggravated assault in connection with a stabbing and house fire.

Prince Albert firefighters were called to a home in the 800 block of 18th St. W. in the early morning hours of July 31. When they arrived, the firefighters discovered a structural fire at the home, which they were able to extinguish.

One male occupant of the home was rescued from the blaze by neighbours prior to the fire crew’s arrival and was taken to hospital by paramedics. Firefighters searched the house and found no other occupants, but the case took a criminal turn when the man pulled from the fire was found to have multiple stab wounds.

Near the home, police arrested 25-year-old Tommy Lee Sakebow, who they say was known to the victim. Sakebow was initially charged with aggravated assault, but additional charges were recently added. In addition to aggravated assault, Sakebow is now accused of robbery and committing arson with disregard for human life.
