A Sturgeon Lake man who pleaded guilty to sexual assault and distributing child pornography was sentenced to three years in jail.

George Edward Herald Sanderson, 23, appeared in Prince Albert Provincial Court Tuesday. The judge also ordered Sanderson to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life, provide a DNA sample and not attend any parks or public playgrounds for twenty years. He also had to surrender the iPad that contained nude pictures of his victims.

Crown Prosecutor, Shawn Blackman said Sanderson will receive 440 days credit for time he has already spent in jail.

Sanderson was arrested following an investigation by Saskatchewan’s Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) unit, which is comprised of RCMP investigators as well as members of the Saskatoon, Regina and Prince Albert police services.
