A North Battleford man received minor injuries on Thursday afternoon after he confronted a group of kids he suspected had recently stolen his vehicle.

After returning home from a vacation, the owner discovered his 2016 Dodge Ram was stolen from the 9000 block of Panton Ave. The man later located the vehicle after it drove past his residence and stopped near his home.

Cpl. James Fenrich of the RCMP said the owner approached the truck and found between four to six youth dressed in black standing around the vehicle. He asked for his keys to be returned before he was assaulted.

Fenrich said another youth came out of a nearby residence wielding two machetes. The youth then jumped in the truck and left the scene of the assault. The owner suffered minor injuries. It is not known if the machete was used in the assault however the RCMP are continuing the investigation.
