A stolen vehicle complaint led to a lengthy standoff and multiple arrests at a home on Makwa Sahgaiehcan First Nation last Thursday, Sept. 21.

After receiving the initial call around 3:30 p.m., RCMP members arrived at the residence where the vehicle was located and confirmed as stolen. At the time, three adult males were arrested on scene, and another three barred themselves inside the house.

According to a media release from Loon Lake RCMP Sgt. Phil DeGruchy, backup was called to assist with the incident

“As a result of further investigation and for safety reasons, [officers from] neighboring detachments, the RCMP Emergency Response Team, and two Police Dog Service teams were deployed to assist,” he said. “At approximately 4 a.m., the three remaining males were arrested without incident during a search of the house.”
