Another Saskatchewan Party leader hopeful is visiting the Meadow Lake region.

Regina’s Alanna Koch, the first woman to serve as Deputy Minister to the Premier of Saskatchewan, announced her leadership bid at the end of August and is visiting every constituency in the province. As such, she will be at the Travelodge in Meadow Lake tomorrow from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. hosting a come-and-go style coffee.

She said she is hoping to meet with as many Saskatchewan Party members as possible during that time.

“I just want to hear about what is important to them in the area, and what they would like to learn more about as far as my candidacy,” Koch said.

She said she feels her breadth and depth of experience on both sides of government, as well as various other sectors would be assets to the Saskatchewan Party leadership – and premiership – role.

“I’m a farmer, I’ve run my own business, I’ve been involved in the non-profit sector, I’ve been a school trustee, and also have done quite a bit of work internationally,” she said. “I want to be able to explain to members why I think that experience is going to make a different. So that I can stay on the path that Brad Wall has set us on over the past 10 years.”

She said Meadow Lake’s Saskatchewan party members will get an opportunity to ask questions and see how she speaks on her feet and talk about what her leadership will be built on.

“Policy principles like free market solutions, competitive business climate, science-based decision making, fiscally responsible government, free trade,” she said. “Also making sure that we take care of the most vulnerable in our society, and ensuring that our growth and prosperity is of benefit to all Saskatchewan citizens so we can have a good quality of life.”
