October is United Way month across Canada and the City of North Battleford has recognized the local chapter by flying its flag at city hall.

Mayor Ryan Bater along with United Way board chair Duane Lafreniere and board member Monte Migneault were on hand for the raising. Lafreniere said it meant a lot to his organization.

“We really want to thank the City of North Battleford for being a partner with us and flying our flag this month,” he said. “It’s nice to be able to raise some awareness to our organization and some of the projects we do.”

Lafreniere added the Battlefords United Way does a lot of behind the scenes work supporting organizations such as Battleford Trade and Educations Centre, Battlefords branch of the Canadian Mental Health Association, the Battlefords Boys and Girls Club, Battleford and Area Sexual Assault Centre, and the Battlefords District Food and Resource Centre. Last year all five agencies each received $10,000 in donations from the United Way.
