Employee attacked with bear spray during armed robbery

Battlefords RCMP are asking for the public’s help following an armed robbery at a convenience store in North Battleford at about 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Police vehicles could be seen outside Chester Fried Chicken North Battleford Foodland that morning.

Battlefords RCMP report the suspect had left before police arrived at the location.

According to Cpl. James Fenrich, police investigation indicated a man entered the business on Thompson Cres., armed with “what is suspected to be bear spray.”

The suspect sprayed an employee with the product, and stole an undisclosed amount of cash and merchandise from the business. 

Police advise the suspect is in his 20s, 5’ 8” to 5’ 10” tall, wearing a mustache, and with a thin build. He was wearing a burgundy-coloured jacket with a hood and jeans. 

Emergency responders treated the employee in the store following the attack.      

Fenrich said police continue to investigate.
