Rosthern-Shellbrook MLA and SaskParty leadership hopeful Scott Moe, visited North Battleford Thursday to prove to residents he’s the right candidate for the job.

Moe too took the opportunity to share his thoughts on the cancellation of the Energy East oil pipeline project. The former environment minister said this is a big loss for the province.

“It’s not good from an economic perspective – in the way of jobs, sales and domestic oil use… it’s just not good all around,” he said. “It’s very concerning when decisions like this are made when we have product like we have here in Western Canada, Alberta, Saskatchewan and other areas, and we’re not even able to transport that to other areas of our own nation.”

Moe said his team will release policy initiatives in the near future with a focus on balancing the budget. He will invest in infrastructure, such as highways and facilities for health and education, and support industry and business.

“As we go into the next decade in our province we’re able to employ more people in our communities and grow our population,” he said.

Meadow Lake MLA Jeremy Harrison attended the event as a supporter of Moe’s in his bid for leader. Harrison was himself a candidate, but dropped out of the race in September.

“Scott’s a good friend of mine. We’ve served in the Legislature and in Cabinet together. I know he’ll be a great premier,” Harrison said. “We’ve been working hard over the course of the last month to make sure that Scott’s going to be the next premier of Saskatchewan.”
