Three members of Meadow Lake’s SheDevils rugby squad traveled to Winnipeg, Man. this past weekend to compete in an elite tournament hosted by Rugby Manitoba on Oct. 7 and 8.

Twins Skyla and Savanna Russell, and Ashley Albert joined up with players from Regina, Warman and Swift Current to form two squads to play in the seven-person team tournament. There was an under-20 team along with an under-17 team. The 20-year-olds were victorious in their division.

SheDevils coach Rufas Crawford said it was a successful weekend for the local players, and a great opportunity to interact with players from across Saskatchewan and Manitoba. He said there was a mix of university teams and club teams who participated in the invitational event.

“They were really pumped about it,” he said. “It was a lot of time on the bus for two days of rugby but they’re already talking about wanting to go next year.”
