SaskEnergy is conducting two controlled flares of natural gas today.

The flaring takes place west of Prince Albert near the south end of McLeod Rd. and northwest of Canwood.

The flares help SaskEnergy perform scheduled maintenance and upgrade the natural gas transmission system in the area. Flaring is required to remove remaining gas from the lines before work can begin.

The area will be supervised to ensure the public is safe. An official with the energy corporation told paNOW today’s forecasted winds will also be monitored. First responders have been notified of the flaring activity.
