Remembrance Day ceremonies taking place across M.L. region

It is important to remember those who have served and protected in our country.

With that in mind, many local organizations and schools will be holding ceremonies to honour Remembrance Day.

In Meadow Lake, the local Royal Canadian Legion Branch #76 will host Remembrance Day ceremonies on Saturday, November 11. The event will start at 10 a.m. at the Meadow Lake Civic Centre, and lunch will be served at the Legion following the service.

Various schools in the city will host their own ceremonies on Friday, Nov. 10, and schools will be closed on Monday Nov. 13 to observe Remembrance Day.

In Dorintosh, the school will be holding their ceremony on Friday, Nov. 10, commencing at 10:45 a.m. Students from the school, and members of the community will be taking part in various aspects.

Green Acre School in Rapid View is hosting community members at a potluck at the recreation centre at noon on Friday, Nov. 10 and a short program will follow. 

Starting at 10:30 a.m. Kopahawakenum School on Flying Dust First Nation will host a service including O’ Canada in Cree, an honour song, and further presentations.

At Waterhen Lake School, Remembrance Day ceremonies will take place in the school’s gym on Thursday, Nov. 9 at 11 a.m. According to the school website, all parents and community members are invited to attend and show support for past and present troops.
