As a way to honour and remember the victims of impaired driving, a group of Meadow Lakers attended a memorial walk organized by the local Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) chapter.

Shirley Lachance was a participant in the Walk To Remember, Thursday, Nov. 23. Lachance’s brother and nephew both died in impaired driving related incidents last year within one month of one each other. She recently joined the local chapter of MADD and said events like this memorial walk are helping her family’s healing process.

“It makes us feel that there’s hope that maybe we could make a difference once we get our story out there more,” she said. “If we let them know how we were affected… maybe people won’t do it.”

She said she appreciated how the MADD Meadow Lake chapter brings tough topics to light with their campaigns, talks, and events.
