New Sobeys liquor store to open in Battleford Friday
After a year of zoning, plans, building and preparations the new Sobeys liquor store (SLGA) is set to open on Friday morning at 8 a.m.
Last November, the grocery store chain was the successful bidder to run the private liquor store; one of 39 public stores that became privately owned and one of 50 total new public stores in Saskatchewan.
“That is exciting to finally see it open up,” said Town of Battleford Mayor Ames Leslie. “I know a lot of residents and people in the area have been waiting patiently for the doors to open.”
The mayor added the store should add to the local economy.
