The Battlefords Chamber of Commerce nominations committee is getting ready to hold it’s annual board elections.

There are nine two-year term seats to fill on the board alongside one seat for a one-year term as one director has decided to step down.

Executive Director Linda Machniak said all ballots, bios and information on the election has been sent to members and “we’re getting ballots back in the mail as members make their votes known.”

Ballots are due back by Dec. 31 or must be postmarked by this date, in order for members to cast their votes.

Fifteen nominees have allowed their names to stand in the election, four of which are incumbents. The Chamber is mandated to have 20 elected positions on its board of directors.

The 15 member candidates running are: Rory Anderson – Moody’s Equipment LP; Warren Berg – Gold Eagle Lodge; Susan Challis – SaskTel (incumbent); Tom Hawboldt – Light of Christ R.C.S.S.D. No.16; Ullas Kapoor – Territorial Dental Clinic; T’Neale Laycock – Sallows & McDonald – Wilson & Zehner Funeral Home;  Ramona Maraj – Macro Properties; Scott Maunula – Maunula Electric Ltd.; Gerald Pohl – Cogent Chartered Professional Accountants LLP (incumbent); Dana Rissling – Innovation Wealth / Innovation Credit Union (incumbent); Diego Roa – Swanson Gryba and Company; Annette Sigstad – Sigstad’s Prairie Catering;  Harris Sutherland – Gold Eagle Casino (incumbent); Vivian Whitecalf – Battlefords Agency Tribal Chiefs (BATC) – CDC; and Jade Youst – H. Zamonsky Insurance Ltd. – real estate division.

Machniak said the nomination committee was pleased with the “breadth and depth of experience” and the various sectors represented in the group of candidates.

All officer positions – president, past president, first vice-president, and second vice-president come as annual appointments.

The position of president is up for grabs, as current president Warren Williams completes his term.

The Chamber will announce the results in early January and at the organizations Jan. 16 board meeting, official appointments will take place for officer positions.

“We’re certainly looking forward to our members putting their ballots in and voting, and having their voice heard on whom they would like to work to govern the organization,” Machniak said.
