SPCA program to benefit from PetSmart grant

The Prince Albert SPCA has an extra $31,900 to help fuel its local spay and neuter efforts thanks to a grant from PetSmart Charities of Canada.
Each year, the Prince Albert SPCA takes in approximately 1,500 stray or homeless animals. According to a release from the organization, the added funds will assist the SPCA to spay and neuter all pets that come into the shelter while providing a low-cost assistance program to pet parents in need.
“We are so grateful for this funding as spay and neutering the animals that come into our care is one of the largest expenses we face as a shelter,” executive coordinator Debbi Kellett said in the release. “This grant gives us the ability to help even more animals in need.”
The SPCA is set to launch the Snip, Snip Hooray Spay/ Neuter Campaign to help raise awareness of the important health and community benefits of the program and promote low-cost programs available to the public. Through the program, the animal welfare agency will look to provide a minimum of 450 surgeries over the coming 12 months thanks to various partnerships with local veterinarians.
