A 12-hour-long stand-off over the weekend kept several police agencies busy on Big River First Nation.

At around 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 4, Big River RCMP responded to the complaint of a distraught male at a residence on the First Nation, and initial investigation revealed there were likely firearms in the residence.

Members from local and surrounding detachments assisted with the incident, as well the RCMP Emergency Response, Crisis Negotiation and Containment Teams.

Early Monday morning, at approximately 6:30 a.m., a lone male exited the home and was immediately taken into custody. No charges have been laid as of yet, but local RCMP, General Investigation and Forensic Identification Sections continue to investigate.
