Several families in Asquith are heartbroken after thieves helped themselves to priceless war memorabilia Tuesday.

RCMP are investigating the early morning break-in at the seniors centre in the community east of Saskatoon.

The theft is hard for Glenda McTavish to accept. Her grandfather’s Second World War medals are among the heirlooms taken from their glass cases at the centre.

“My grandfather put his life on the line for us as a country to walk free. These medals were a part of him and he cherished them very much, ” McTavish said. “It’s just devastating.”
