Pelican Narrows rallies in support of Boushie family
A northern community has collectively gathered to show their support for the family of Colten Boushie.
Mary Jane Michel organized the rally in Pelican Narrows on Saturday, after a not guilty verdict was handed to Gerald Stanley in the 2016 shooting death of Boushie. Several rallies were hosted across the country in the days following the decision.
“This rally [will] be a continuation to show our support for that family,” Michel said. “We haven’t forgotten, [and] we won’t forget the verdict was [handed down] a week ago.”
Michel said she is still very angry and sad about the decision. She participated in a rally in Boushie’s honour in Saskatoon on Feb. 10 and wanted to bring the movement to Pelican Narrows.
