Prince Albert Police have two men in jail and are searching for a third in connection to a home invasion in the city earlier this month.

Michael Wiegers, 41, Cody Wiegers, 26, and Dion Michelle, 38, all face one charge of aggravated assault.

Michael Wiegers had a bail hearing on Friday and made his appearance via video from the Prince Albert Correctional Centre. According to the Crown’s statement of facts, around 6 p.m. on Feb. 6, the three men allegedly drove to a home in the 1400 block of Sixth Ave. W. and attacked a man inside. The victim was hit multiple times in the head with brass knuckles and a pipe. The statement includes information from witnesses who told police they saw a 35-year-old man running into the street screaming in pain. The victim was transported to hospital for several facial injuries which required reconstructive surgery, according to the statement.

Defence lawyer Mary McAuley said Michael told her the events transpired differently and that he attempted to leave the residence when he saw tensions escalate. Michael was denied bail and is scheduled to make his next court appearance Feb. 23.
