Teen charged with stealing vehicle, evading police

A 15-year-old and a 57-year-old are the latest locals to receive charges after two separate incidents in Prince Albert over the weekend.

In the early morning of Feb. 18, members attended to a vehicle theft call. Officers found the stolen vehicle on the 300 block of 12 Street West, but the vehicle and driver fled.

Police attempted to contain the vehicle on Fifth Street East, but the driver attempted to evade officers and wound up putting the car into the ditch.

The 15-year-old driver was arrested and charged with theft of a motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle while attempting to evade officers, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and breach of a youth order sentence. The teen will appear in provincial court today, Feb. 20.
