Floral shop thief to undergo psych assessment

Sentencing has been delayed for a man who threatened a Prince Albert floral shop clerk with a meat cleaver two years ago.

Austin Fiddler’s case was heard Thursday morning at Prince Albert Provincial Court.  The 21-year-old appeared via video from the Prince Albert Correctional Centre.

Judge Hugh Harradence ordered a psychiatric assessment be done prior to sentencing. The case has been scheduled to be back in court March 12. Harradence said sentencing may or may not proceed on that day, depending what the doctor has to say.

A floral shop on Central Ave. was robbed in January of 2016. Fiddler left with some store merchandise after an unsuccessful attempt to open the till. The store clerk later quit her job as a result of the trauma she suffered.
