March was a busy month for the Meadow Lake’s bylaw department.

City Manager Diana Burton shared the monthly report for the department with city council at their recent meeting. The issues the bylaw department dealt with included dog licences, snow removal, traffic tickets, and waste and recycling collection.

A total of 131 dog owners in the city failed to renew their licences by the Jan. 31 deadline. The department followed up in the weeks after, and the number was cut nearly in half with only 70 left to renew as of late February. The city started levying fines in March for unpaid dues.

Community Safety Officer Joe Hallahan issued a total of 14 tickets for speeding in March, along with one ticket for failing to stop at a stop sign, one for failing to wear a seatbelt, one ticket for using phone while driving, and one for stunting. Fifteen verbal warnings were also issued.
