Fundraising quilt a celebration of community
A fundraising project by Meadow Lake’s Multiworks Corporation is really showing how close-knit Meadow Lake truly is.
Individuals, businesses, schools, and fellow community groups have been creating 10×10 inch squares over the last several weeks, and when the April 30 deadline rolls around, they will come together to create a quilt to be raffled off. The proceeds will raise money for Multiworks’ new building on Centre St., set to open later this year.
Louise Slater, program manager for the non-profit which supports adults with intellectual disabilities, said those participating are encouraged to share their individuality though their creations.
“Anybody can participate, and can submit what they thought of Meadow Lake, or whatever, really,” she said. “We have quite a few from the schools, some of the clubs, we’ve had a good response for sure. We thought in a way getting the community to make the blanket would be a nice way to give back to the community too.”
