Police in Prince Albert arrested an intoxicated woman who was carrying a hatchet after she allegedly attempted to assault an officer.

An officer was called to a 20th St. E. alley after police received reports of an impaired woman early Tuesday morning. The officer placed the woman under arrest for public intoxication, police said, and found she was carrying a hatchet on her person.

“The female also attempted to assault the officer,” a police spokesperson said in a statement. “She was brought under control and placed securely in cells. The officer was not injured.”

Police said the female suspect, 22-year-old Tenelle Lachance of Prince Albert, was found to have outstanding warrants for her arrest and is now facing new charges of assaulting a peace officer, resisting arrest, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and carrying a concealed weapon.
