Credit Union members in Debden have voted in favour of a merger with Diamond North Credit Union.

Members of the Debden Credit Union voted 100 per cent in favour of the merger April 17. A release from the credit union said members of the Diamond North Credit Union voted 98.5 per cent in favour of joining with the Debden branch.

The merger has been in the works since last year, and is expected to be finalized January 1, 2019.

In a February interview, Debden Credit Union general manager William Sanderson said the merger is a good fit for the organization. Sanderson said Diamond North is rural-based and shares the same economic philosophy.
