A local business owner was recently recognized for her hard work in the community.

Rene L’Heureux was invited to attend an event in Saskatoon hosted by BMO, celebrating women entrepreneurs in Saskatchewan. L’Heureux owns the Beauty Spot Lash bar in North Battleford, and said she was shocked to receive the recognition of the 2018 Community and Charitable Giving Award for the Northern region.

“They just started reading my story and the things I do around the community,” L’Heureux said, “My heart was beating out of my chest, them reading the things that I did and not knowing I was nominated for it. It was pretty exciting; it was nice to do something that you genuinely love doing and giving back to the community and then getting recognition for it.”

L’Heureux along with her business started The Buddy Bench Project for North Battleford Schools and was highlighted in the award presentation. The project aims at giving back to a different organization every month in the community. They built a Buddy Bench along with Discovery Co-Op for every school in the Battlefords, and L’Hereux believes these initiatives are very important for the community.
