Kinsmen Park aquatic facilities to open this month

The Kinsmen Water Park along with the city’s first new outdoor pool in 50 years are set to open in the coming weeks.

The city announced the Water Park, including the slides, whirl and tot pools, playground and basketball net will open this coming Saturday at 1 p.m.

Three weeks after that, on Saturday, June 30, the city is expected to open the new $1.2 million junior Olympic swimming pool and leisure pool. Only major delays in the final construction phase would push that timeframe out.

“Over the next few weeks we just have to put the pool-liner in, finish some of the deck work, and a little bit of fencing and landscaping,” recreation manager Derek Blais told paNOW. “It’s exciting, the new pool is going from a rectangular to L-shape with the beach entry to allow for maximum accessibility that goes from zero to three feet [in depth].”
