RCMP use spike belts to nab impaired driver near Warman

A 42-year-old man will make a court appearance Monday after a brief early morning chase June 9 near Warman.

In an news release Rosthern RCMP said they pulled over a vehicle for speeding on Highway 11 near Rosthern. When they approached the vehicle, officers observed signs of impairment in the driver. The driver then fled the scene, heading southbound on Highway 11.  With assistance from Warman RCMP, a spike belt was deployed near the intersection of Highways 11 and 12, entering Saskatoon. The driver fled the vehicle on foot after the tires were deflated, but was apprehended by RCMP shortly after. 

The driver was charged with dangerous driving, operating a motor vehicle while impaired, and flight from police. RCMP said he will be held in custody and is scheduled to appear in Saskatoon Provincial Court June 11 at 9 a.m.
