M.L. Aquatic Centre to be closed at least one more week
There won’t be any swimming, splashing, or diving going on at the Meadow Lake Aquatic Centre for at least another week as the city waits for a backordered part from the United States.
The pool has been closed to public use since May 26, when a part of the pool’s pump broke down, according to city manager Diana Burton.
“The water is pumped to make sure it’s and recirculated,” she said. “One part of the pump is called an impeller, and even though we rushed ordered, it still hasn’t arrived.”
Originally, city staff hoped to receive the crucial piece which rotates the water through the system mid-last week, but Burton said the piece is now expected to arrive by either Friday, June 15 or Monday, June 18.
