Loon Lake RCMP officers have been busy with drug, gang, and weapon-related investigations recently.

Officers have been looking into suspected drug trafficking at a residence on Makwa Sahgaiehgan First Nation. The investigation officially wrapped up today as Beverly Chief, 51, pleaded guilty to trafficking cocaine, according to Detachment Commander Sgt. Ryan How.

“Sentencing for Chief is expected to take place in Meadow Lake in August,” he said. “She will remain in custody until that time.”

Earlier this month, Const. Steven Fraser, also of Loon Lake RCMP, worked with some Makwa Sahgaiehgan residents to combat gang activity, which included firearms offences.
