A 39-year-old man was in hospital Friday in good condition after he and his bike were blown over by a passing semi on Highway 55 east of Prince Albert.

The incident happened around 12:30 p.m. Friday. Lyle Karasiuk with Parkland Ambulance said both the cyclist and the semi were travelling west, into the city.

“The wash, or the air that passes from the back from the vehicle, was strong enough to have blown him over,” Karasiuk told paNOW. “It’s a very unusual incident because lots of cyclists get passed by vehicles all the time.”

Karasiuk said proper clothing helps insure cyclists are clearly visible to drivers.
