Those who have enjoyed the Battlefords Wildlife Federation (BWF) annual Smoker for the past 72 years will notice some dramatic changes to this year’s event.

The Town of Battleford approved a zoning amendment bylaw for any future potential cannabis retail outlets and grow operations at its meeting Monday.

No one objected at a public hearing before council carried second and third reading of the bylaw.

The city will host an open house April 18 at St. Mary School where it will provide information about its many initiatives to improve community safety, including neighbourhood block parties and mural projects.

The City of North Battleford hopes to make the community safer by helping residents get to know their neighbours better. To make it easier, it is trimming off some of the cost for two popular projects — block parties and street murals.
