April 26, 1973 – April 24, 2017
Tronn “TK” Tomtene passed peacefully on April 24th, 2017, at University Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta at the age of 43 years, surrounded by close friends and family with love all around him. Left to mourn his passing are: his father: Gordon Tomtene of Birch Hills, SK; and his sister: Tracey Tomtene of Vancouver, BC; along with numerous loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Tronn was preceded in death by his mother: Barb Tower of Camrose, AB; his grandparents: Trond & Margaret Tomtene of Birch Hills, SK; and Thomas & Jean East of Camrose, AB. Tronn was born on April 26, 1973, in Saskatoon, to Gordon and Barbara (nee East) Tomtene. He grew up riding dirt bikes, horses and ski-doos and was the quintessential farm boy. He graduated from High School in 1991 and went on to work in various occupations in Agriculture, Crop Insurance and Environmental Consulting, but was at his happiest in the tractor or combine working the land. Tronn always loved to work with his hands and had an artistic side. He was specifically passionate about creating lino paintings of John Deere equipment and Peterbilt trucks. His memory bank of jokes to tell was unending and his warmth always made people around him feel at ease. He was known as a fun-loving “gentle giant” with a sensitive and generous heart, and had many nicknames,” TK, Schnuppin’, Robo-Tronn, Mega-Tronn, Nnort Nick” and the list goes on. He loved animals and children and he connected deeply with music and everything related to farming and motor culture. We are all better people for having known Tronn. If he was able, he would do anything for you. Despite the pain in his life, his will and heart were strong and he never lost his sense of humor. He could easily fill a room with laughter. He will be truly missed but forever and always, spiritually present and in our hearts. A Funeral Service will take place on Monday, May 1, 2017 – 2:00 pm at Lake Park Baptist Church, Birch Hills, SK, with Pastor Dale Hanson as Officiant. Interment will take place at Birch Hills Cemetery, followed by a lunch reception. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Tronn’s life. In lieu of other tributes, donations in memory of Tronn can be made to Hope Mission, 9908 106 Ave NW, Edmonton, AB, T5H 2N7. The family would like to thank his caregivers at University Hospital in Edmonton for their dedication and care in the last days of his life.
