Ms. Olive Braaten passed away on Sunday, April 30, 2017 at the Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert, SK. Olive was born October 22, 1925 the second child to Oliver and May (Stevenson) Braaten. She had 6 brothers 1 sister. They lived in Tiger Hills, SK where Oliver and May operated their store O. Braaten General Merchant, Groceries & Gas from 1932-1944 so Olive was very busy helping her mother take care of the younger children. In 1944 the store was sold to U.B. & Edith Ayles. From there Oliver and May bought the farm on the hill, each year they cleared more of the land so they could grow crops and raise animals, cows, horses, pigs & chickens. There were always nieces and nephews visiting Olive (Aunty) at the farm. She always had all kinds of goodies waiting when you arrived… raisin cookies, donuts, chocolate cake with caramel icing just to name a few. And the Sunday dinners with all the young families where all the adults sat at one table and all the nieces and nephews sat at another. In 1986 Olive moved into Birch Hills where she resided until a brief stay in the hospital before her passing.
