At least two people are dead, and three others injured following a three-vehicle crash on Saskatoon’s 22nd Street Monday night.

Dozens of onlookers stood outside a barrier of police tape as emergency crews dealt with the aftermath.

A car was embedded roof-first in the front of Harder’s Family Wellness Centre on the corner of Avenue M while a green Chevy pickup pinned it there. An SUV also rested in the eastbound lanes of 22nd Street with its front bumper smashed in.

Saskatoon Police Staff Sgt. Cam Dreaver said Monday night that one of the vehicles had been stolen. Two people in the stolen vehicle has sustained injuries, he said, along with three occupants of another vehicle.

Troy Davies with MD Ambulance confirmed that two of the injured had died. Three others were sent to Royal University Hospital, one in critical condition.

Witnesses on scene said the crash followed a police chase that occurred at just before 8 p.m. One witness said the green Chevy was travelling northbound on Avenue M, and crashed into the two other vehicles when it crossed 22nd Street.

Traffic on 22nd Street was re-routed for several hours Monday while emergency crews cleared the scene.
