A contracting company and driver charged in connection to the damage caused to the Shellbrook Overpass will go to trial.

According to the Prince Albert police, a driver of a truck carrying a heavy load on Highway 2 hit the girders while passing underneath it last October.

The Shellbrook Overpass had to be temporarily shut down by officials for safety concerns. Weight restrictions were also in place. The City of Prince Albert is now looking to make repairs to the structure.

Police later charged Darrin Smith, and the company he was driving for, Eagle Creek Contracting, with one Traffic Safety Act violation and three violations under the Highways and Transportation Act.
